My Start-Up Pantry Shopping List

Many people ask me how I got started…. what did I buy? How did I know WHAT to buy? Easy. I had one of my very closest sister-friends, Naida, help me. Without her, I wouldn’t have known where or how to get started on my journey to cooking from scratch. How do you thank someone for doing that for you? Simple. You pay it forward….. in hopes that the help continues to grow and spread. So remember, what you learn, pass it on. You would be surprised how many people are in the same boat, and just don’t know how or where to get started.

So….. here is my shopping list. My very FIRST shopping list. To buying all of my “cook from scratch” ingredients. I kept it. As a reminder of where and how I got started. I keep it under protection in my homesteading binder. And now, I share it with YOU!

Now, I buy these items in BULK when I can. These are items that i ALWAYS have in my pantry.  These are items that you can make just about ANYTHING with, from scratch…. including making homemade brown sugar and bread crumbs! These are staples. As you begin to learn how to cook, without buying pre-packaged items like gravy, BBQ sauce, cream soups, ect….. your pantry list will grow and continue to grow. But for me, these are the BASICS! With these items, you can pretty much make anything!!!! Buy them in bulk if you can and store the rest. Trust me, you will use it!

  1. Mom of nine kids. Most have moved on but a few stragglers. We are farmers living off the land. I love your videos and today you made me laugh so hard I had to go pee. You don’t going shopping in the mall, just give the kid money and say enjoy yourself. I have five girls who love mall shopping. I drop them off and if they really want something have to drag me in when I come to collect them. Gives them time to think. ” nah I’m not going to drag mom in, I really don’t need that item” Of course there is always that one kid!!! Going to order the King Athur book today from interlock at the library. Never heard of it. Keep up the good work.

    • HAHAHAHAHA that is awesome!!!!! Yeah, they all want money for Xmas. What fun is that? Meh. Probably easier like you said. hahaha OH let me know if and when you get that book. You are going to love it!
